Founders Jerry and Dave
Jerry Gothard and Dave Ringius co-founded Capital Insurance Agencies Ltd. o/a Capital Financial Services in 1980.
Jerry N. Gothard
Jerry was very community driven and always gave back. He was someone who always looked to the future, anticipating changes in the business community, and the way that business would develop in the future. For Jerry, Capital was a way to preserve the personal, personable way of doing business that makes a community strong together.
Jerry's personal approach to business led him into countless opportunities to serve and to learn. The list of community organizations he supported is a lengthy one, including the Thunder Bay Diving Club, Canadian Amateur Diving Club, Thunder Bay Executive Association, Thunder Bay Dragon Boats, the Nor West Gyro Association, Gyro International, the Port Arthur Rotary Club, the Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce and the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation.
At home, Jerry was devoted to his wife Bev and daughter Kelli and enjoyed an astonishing variety of creative hobbies, dancing, music and travel. His diverse interests and good nature endeared him to everyone who knew him and made him a wonderful leader. One of his proudest moments came when Kelli followed in his footsteps as a partner at Capital and, eventually, took over the business.
B. David "Dave" Ringius
Dave was born in Sprague, Manitoba and moved with his family to Atikokan when he was young. A natural fit for life in Thunder Bay, Dave loved to golf and fish and enjoyed his time at camp.
David was committed to his community, not only through his work with Capital Financial, but with his volunteer work. David was the first chair of the board with the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, president of the Chamber of Commerce and he was bestowed the Ontario Centennial Award for his involvement with our community. We remember Dave for his generosity and willingness to help others without expectations; he never hesitated when someone was in need.
Although he was recognized for many professional accomplishments, it was his deep commitment to his family and close friends that Dave was the most proud of.
He was active in coaching and supporting his children and grandchildren through their extra curricular activities.
