Chambers Plan: Corporate Info
The Chambers of Commerce Group Insurance Plan was launched in 1970 in response to demand from the members of Chambers of Commerce and Boards of Trade across Canada. Today, the plan insures over 26,000 businesses and 100,000 owners & employees nationwide, providing small and medium-sized businesses the protection of a comprehensive group benefits plan usually reserved for much larger firms.
The Chambers of Commerce Insurance Corporation of Canada (CCICC) oversees the Chambers Plan. The CCICC is a not-for-profit organization representing Plan participants across Canada, including both the Chambers of Commerce and Boards of Trade which offer the program, and the people insured under it.
Participating Chambers appoint or elect directors to the board from each region of the country. One director from each region must be a paid Chamber of Commerce or Board of Trade employee, and the other must be a volunteer. Directors do not receive salaries. Through its directors, the CCICC works to ensure the Plan is appropriately marketed and administered, and the benefits available to members continue to meet their current needs.
Benefits under the plan are insured by Desjardins, ACE INA Insurance and Western Life. Best Doctors services are available through the plan as well as an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), offered by Solareh Canada.
Administration for the Plan is handled by the Johnston Group, a third party administration company headquartered in Winnipeg, MB. The Johnston Group has been selected as one of Canada’s Top 50 Best Managed Companies in each of the last 10 years.
There are no industry restrictions. All for-profit businesses are eligible while they are members of a participating Chamber of Commerce or Board of Trade, a membership that allows you to access a multitude of business resources and connect to a network of professionals like yourself.
